ACCREDITATION TEAM INVITES PUBLIC COMMENTS ABOUT THE

HILLSBORO BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Hillsboro Beach Police Department is proud to announce that assessors from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA) will arrive at the Hillsboro Beach Police Department on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 according to Chief Thomas Nagy.  This assessment will be a three-day examination of all aspects of the department’s policies, procedures, management, operations and support services.  The Hillsboro Beach Police Department has to comply with 239 standards in order to retain our accredited status.  Many of the standards are critical to life, health and safety issues.

The assessment team is comprised of law enforcement practitioners from agencies throughout the State of Florida.  The assessors will review written materials, practices and interview individuals so that compliance can be witnessed.

As part of the on-site assessment, agency members and the general public are invited to offer comments to the assessment team.  The comments must be in writing, and must address the department’s ability to comply with CFA standards.  Please write to:  CFA, P.O. Box 1489, Tallahassee, Florida 32302, or email to flaccreditation@fdle.state.fl.us. A copy of the CFA Standards Manual (approximately 250 pages) is available through Hillsboro Beach Police Accreditation Manager Eileen Casagrande.  She can be contacted by telephone at (954) 427-6600 or email at ecasagrande@townofhillsborobeach.com.

Once the CFA Assessors complete their review of our agency, a full report will be filed with the Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission, who will then decide if the agency is awarded Accreditation status for the next three years.  If so awarded, the Hillsboro Beach Police Department will have retained a highly prized, statewide recognition, of law enforcement professional excellence Chief Nagy said.
