On Friday, March 8, 2019, the Hillsboro Beach Police Department facilitated and attended Helicopter Hoist Training conducted by The United States Coast Guard Air Station Miami. The training, which is the first of it's kind in our area, involves teaching local Law Enforcement and Fire Rescue Departments with Marine Unit assets how to transfer injured people from a boat to the helicopter via hoist. The initial instruction was conducted at the Pompano Airport and subsequent training will occur off-shore. We are very excited to be able to participate in this training, it will certainly enhance our ability to expedite patient transportation during marine incidents. Our most profound thanks to our United States Coast Guard Search and Rescue Specialists for providing us this valuable training opportunity.
