Commissioner Andrew R. Brown
Commissioner Andrew R. Brown holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the New York Institute of Technology and an Associate degree in Criminal Justice from the Suffolk County Community College. He also received certification through the Florida Public Pension Trustees Association (FPPTA). Born in Washington, DC, Commissioner Brown raised his family on Long Island, NY.

A New York State Retired Suffolk County Police Officer and Suffolk County Police Alumni, Commissioner Brown was elected to the Town of Hillsboro Beach Commission in March of 2018. He has served on a number of advisory boards & associations – including American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, President of the Homeowners Board Association in Deer Creek for 12 years and Port De Mer Condominium Association Board President for 2 years. He served 8 years on a local Fire Pension Board overseeing investments of pension funds. Commissioner Brown strongly believes in volunteerism and giving back. For over 8 years, Commissioner Brown volunteered with Boca Helping Hands to provide meals for the less fortunate. As an avid golfer, he has volunteered 10 years with Broken Sound Golf Course to assist with the Champions Tour Tournament.
Commissioner Brown’s public service includes 4 years serving in the United States Navy. He worked with the New York Department of Transportation, assisting with inspection of old roads, bridges and overseeing new construction. He served 30 years with the New York Suffolk County Police Department working patrol and special investigations. During Commissioner Brown’s career he’s provided security to three school districts on Long Island and served as a Code Enforcement Officer for the local incorporated village.
Commissioner Brown and his wife Ava relocated to the Hillsboro Beach area in 2001. In 2016 Miles, his rescue dog from the Miami area, took up residence and is now a resident of Hillsboro Beach. As a Town Commissioner, he’s actively working to move Hillsboro Beach forward. He believes in making government more accessible and responsive to the needs of the public.
