Message from the Mayor

The year is moving along very quickly and we are again approaching a new hurricane season and a new Town Budget.  Everyone should be prepared by now.  Your home and association should have their emergency operations plan in order as well as a personal one.  Important phone numbers, evacuation plan, supplies, insurance, camera, secure documents and a land-line phone, all should be a part of your plan.  Keep in mind, we will also use our community room to help anyone, accommodations will be there to charge your phones and supply water should it be needed.  Call our Police Department (954-427-6600) if you have any questions.  Everyone knows the routine, don't ignore it.

Elections are also on everyone's agenda.  This year's primary is for everyone as there will be School Board, Circuit Court and County Court judicial seats as well as other races for State positions.  Be sure to put August 24th and September 2nd on your calendars.  Absentee ballots may be obtained from the Broward County Supervisors of Elections website:  www.browardsoe.org or by calling 954-357-7055.

Our beach renourishment project is proceeding and will be here soon.  Permits are expected by November.

The water plant should be going out for bid by the fall.  We are still waiting for our WUP (water use permit) from the SFWMD which is necessary to begin this project.  There should be no interruption of water while the work is being

done.

Remember to call the police station (954-427-6600) if your e-mail address is not on the community e-mail.  Whenever important Town issues arise, all residents that are on this list are notified.  Keep in mind the lighting rules during the turtle season.  This is very important in regards to obtaining our permit for the beach renourishment .

Let us hear from you ~ Safe travels and Best to all!

Mayor Carmen McGarry
